What is culture supernatant?
This is the upper layer of liquid produced during cell culturing, and contains liquid factors secreted by the cells (growth factors, proteins such as cytokines, and extracellular vesicles called exosomes). Culture supernatant derived from mesenchymal stem cells are known to have a variety of therapeutic effects, including suppressing inflammation, regulating immune system response, and angiogenesis.
DFAT-derived Culture Supernatant
A variety of growth factors, regenerative factors, and cytokines are produced by cells during the DFAT cell culturing process. This supernatant will be used to develop therapeutic drugs made with the nutrient rich liquid and new treatment methods, and as culture supernatant is not a cell therapy, official approval is outside the scope of the Regenerative Medicine Law.

- HGF (Hepatocyte growth factor)
It has been found to be physiologically active in regenerating and protecting various organs such as the liver, blood vessels, nerves, and skin. Clinical trials are being performed for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and arteriosclerosis obliterans (ASO).
- VEGF (Vascular endothelial growth factor)
This is a powerful angiogenic factor which forms new blood vessels and promotes the growth of existing blood vessels. It has shown to have hair restoration effects by increasing the number of capillaries in the scalp and improving blood circulation.
This is a type of peptide hormone involved in the regulation of appetite and energy metabolism. Angiogenic effects, skin regeneration by promoting skin keratin cell growth, and promotion of hair regrowth have been reported.
Angiogenic effects of DFAT-derived culture supernatant
DFAT-derived culture supernatant is rich in the angiogenic factors VEGF and HGF. In fact, when human DFAT-derived culture supernatant was introduced into cultured vascular endothelial cells, it significantly promoted tube formation in the vascular endothelial cells (differentiation into blood vessels). The angiogenic effects of this DFAT-derived culture supernatant were found to be stronger than those of ASC-derived culture supernatant, regardless of the age of the donor.
