DFAT

What is DFAT?

  • It is a type of induced multipotent stem cell which can be induced by culturing fat cells using special techniques.
  • These cells have multipotency, and are similar to the mesenchymal stem cells currently used widely in clinical applications.
     Matsumoto T, Kano K, et al. J Cell Physiol 215:210, 2008
  • This technology is internationally patented, and was researched and developed by Nihon University.
     International Patent (PCT/JP2004/007322)
  • DFAT is an acronym for Dedifferentiated fat cells.

DFAT Super Cells

These are precursor cells which have multipotency.
A large number of pure cells can be cultured from a small quantity of fat.
Clinical trials for lower-extremity blood vessels are planned to commence this year, and therapeutic drugs and treatments will soon be established.
One might call this the first year in the era of DFAT.
With these cells as the core of regenerative medicine, we will develop new patents and innovative treatment methods, making a contribution to the advancement of regenerative medicine worldwide.
